So much has changed in one month!Hello dear readers! I’m so excited to share with you some really amazing changes that have occurred in the past month. My chapter at Fluent Commerce is coming to a close on September 19, nearly 5 years from when I started there. It has been a very educational experience that has catapulted my professional growth ahead. Here’s what I can tell you for sure: Being in a VP level role is not for me. It’s not that I am not capable. I was rocking it. In fact, the company was very bummed to hear that I was moving on. But at this stage in my life, I need to be able to just do good work and make a difference and not be responsible for other people’s career paths. I take that responsibility so very seriously, and in the end, I got very burned out. So, what’s next? I’m glad you asked! I’m going to work for a company called Signifyd. The role is Senior Sales Operations Manager and I’m only supporting the North American region and it’s only a 4-day work week! This means I’m going to have more time to do all the other stuff I’m passionate about like spending time with my family, teaching Pilates and Mindful Movement, and Personal and Executive Coaching, maybe even get back to drumming. I start there on September 22. You read that right! The Nelson family business is growing into two locations downtown. We’ll be operating OBP Studio B and The Eudaimonia Movement right next door to the existing On Base Productions location on Main Street. Listen friends. I am thrilled about this development. I’ve ALWAYS wanted a space downtown to spread the word about the life well lived. But the reality is that because I work full time, it just has never been sustainable for me to strike out on my own with a physical location. But because On Base is growing and needed the extra space, this worked out perfectly. More to come as we develop all of our plans to make the most out of this new space. Trust me when I say, everything we do will be focused on building a bigger “we” in Niles. Our community needs more spaces where folks from different paths convene to be in proximity with each other where they can learn and grow from each other. For the past year, you’ve heard me carry on about how I’m always doing too much. Well, I had a long talk with myself recently and said, “Self. Gurrrl. You trippin’. You gotta slow the fuck down. You’re not in your 20’s or even 30’s anymore. I love you. You deserve to have plenty of time for creativity and rest.” And I thought that was pretty good advice. So in the past 90 days I retired from the DDA Main Street Board, resigned from my job and got a new one with less responsibility and hours, and put my Reformer teaching on pause. And magically, I feel so much lighter. It’s easier to take a deep breath and melt into my comfy chair and just relax. So that there’s no room for confusion, I LOVE teaching at Beyond Zen. Melanie has been the most supportive and understanding soul I’ve ever worked with. She and the team there create an environment where I feel real belonging.
